Future Shock Music: Hurricane Sandy relief Concert

             Kanye West & Paul McCartney

I think I now might have herd it all, Kanye West and Sir Paul McCartney are set to take center stage together to be a night that will soon never be forgotten. The two will headline a concert to benefit all that have suffered through the travesties that was Hurricane Sandy.

This epic event is set to take place on 12-12-12, on no other stage than MSG (Madison Square Garden). The concert which is now being dubbed the "12-12-12 Show" will also being bringing live performances by bands The Who, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and many others, all of which have deep routed ties to the east coast. This concert could not have come at a better time, with relief few and far in between this will be a night of smiles and memories. Something the east coast is in dire need of.

Hurricane Sandy came like a thief in the night stealing over 100 lives and leaving millions without shelter or power in some of darkest moments known to the United States. Still to date, 120,000 people from the tri-state (NY, NJ ,PA) area are as of Sunday still without power. This is not taking into account the countless business's that are still unable to conduct "Business as usual." Many of these structures have been so badly damaged that power can not yet be brought back to the them.

So the next logical question is whats next?

For the time being utility crews are working around the clock to bring life back to this dead region, and support continues to pour in from all corners of the world and now this.

Most still remember the last time a relief concert was put on for the city of New York. This coming in the aftermath of 9/11 and was brought to view in large part by Harvey Weinstein.

Mr. Weinstein is set to do it all over again, attracting major headlining artists form all over the world in hopes to bring joy & life  back to the the mean streets of NYC. All proceeds raised will be handed over to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which will then provided aid to those of the tri-state region.

Event coordinators James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein released this statement:
"12-12-12 is shaping up to be a showcase of music royalty. The response from the entertainment community to help those most affected by Hurricane Sandy has been nothing short of astounding. We expect to announce additional legendary performers in the near future and we are confident that the event will ensure those in need will not be forgotten, and vital aid will be directed to rebuilding our communities along the East Coast."

Jay Z : Barclay's Arena Performance

                 Jay Z : Can't Stop Wont Stop

Jay Z aka Sean Carter has never fallen off his game; from music to business and now crossing into the sports world, he can do no wrong. Moving the Nets from their native land of NJ to BK was  a huge move and was not to be taken lightly.

However for the first time since 1957, there is a professional sports team back in the borough of Brooklyn and this is largely thanks to Jay Z and his forward thinking and aggressive swagger.

Jay Z is no stranger to the spotlight, having  played on many different stages in front of millions of fans, but there's just something special about being in your own hometown, on your own stage in your own arena. That's just what Mr. Carter did turning the Barclay's center into a scene outta "Fade To Black" which was one of Jay Z's biggest accomplishments selling out Madison Garden back in 04.

He performed some of his most renowned classics " Dead Presidents" & "Can I Live" sparking a fire in all who were present in the arena. This "eight day residency" was a marketing plow designed to fill the seats and get fans and supporters excited for the coming BK Nets season.

The show is far from being over, HOVA is planning to team up with  long time friend and collaborator Chris Martin ( lead singer of the band Coldplay) to bring an end of the year celebration for a very special Brooklyn New Year's Eve. Jay Z & Coldplay are set to take the BK stage at Barclay's arena December 31.This news comes direct from Hova's Life and Time's website.

As mentioned before Jay Z has been hard at work performing for his city and for fans of both himself and the Nets earlier this fall. Coldplay has also agreed to take the stage December 30 with band Natural 7 as their opening act. These two acts will mark the first time that Coldplay has performed live in NYC since 05, so you can best believe they are set to do it right.

The Man With The Iron Fists : " Wu-tang Clan - Ain't Nothin' Ta Fuck Wit "

So you thought the Wu was a thing of the 90's ........ How wrong you were. They are back and bigger than ever with none other than the RZA the Jizza aka Robert Fitzgerald Diggs directorial debut of "The Man With The Iron Fists."

Written by both RZA and Eli Roth ( Hostel I & II, Grind House, Cabin Fever) this gritty and dark Martial Arts film is sure to have something for everyone. With a star studded line up which includes Russell Crowe, Luci Liu, David Bautista and of course The RZA how could you possibly ask for more

"The Man With The Iron Fists" is set in early 19th century China with the story following a group of complex and diverse warriors who have a common goal; Stop them fool's from getting the gold!

There is an unwanted presence that has converged on a small Chinese Village where the emperor's gold is kept. In the film this village is referred to as the "Jungle Village"  and it falls on the shoulders of this motley crew to restore order and protect that Booty (Gold, for those of you whose minds are in the gutter).

The villagers Blacksmith (RZA) is spearheaded to the front of the trials and tribulations as a result of his skill & ability to forge weapons that are in growing demand from both sides.

Of course the film goes into complex back stories of other characters and of the overall story ( took about a year of back writing by both RZA & Eli Roth) but in truth if you are coming to check out this film than you got a single track mind.

And they do just that; with amazing CGI and extensive intricate fight scenes, "The Man With The Iron Fist's" stays true to form with authentic kung fu film making. The movie is bizarre and weird but come on, what kung fu flick isn't.

Amazingly this film brings elements from the hip-hop culture with a sense of swag, not only from its sound track which is straight hot fire ( RZA & The WU performed a slew of concerts to promote the movie) , but in its over all attitude depicted by all involved.

FUTURE SHOCK MUSIC IS PROUD TO SUPPORT "The Man With The Iron Fist's" and so should you.

KId Cudi INDICUD Album Drop

Photo: At Universal, showin myself some love haha

Kid Cudi : The One Man Wrecking Crew

It's official Cudi fans, we have another highly anticipated album being dropped by none other than Mr. Midas Touch aka Kid Cudi. I swear the man can do no wrong every thing he touches turns to instant gold. His new album entitled INDICUD is set to be released in early 2013 according to Kid Cudi himself via his Twitter " My new album is entitled indicud, it will be my version of The Chronic 2001."
And we can not wait, Kid Cudi blew up on the scene with his fresh approach to modern hip hop; with weed influenced lyrics, fresh beats  and an over all desire to make music that people wanna roll up and kick back how could we ignore. The man is a beast, with his recent signing to G.O.O.D Music he's doing just that, creating smash after smash and we here at Future Shock Music have HIGH HOPES (no pun intended) for the release  of what we believe will be another instant classic that is destined for viral success.
I had the opportunity to cut back and enjoy a few of the tracks off his forth coming album and I for one am super stoked to hear what else Cudi has in store for us. The Hip hop game has fallen off with in the last decade, and was in desperate need of some serious revamping and it looks like someone finally got the message. If you're anything like us you are sick and tired of music that has no point and speaks of things that the average person might only hope of one day achieving.

It literally is a breath of fresh air,  MUSIC TO MY EARS.

Stay tuned for and in depth review on INDICUD
